O’Remington is a schooner built in 1946 at Di Donna Shipyard in Castelammare di Stabia (Naples) and first named ‘Maria del Mare’.
Founded in the late 1800, Di Donna Shipyard was renowned as the Real Family of Borbone’s favourite in the area .
This extremely sturdy construction was originally used for carrying the big barrel of wine from Pompei to Neaples. In 1963 the vessel was purchased by Lord Remington, who converted her into a luxury pleasure craft, equipped with all amenities for onboard living.
Lord Remington lived actually onboard the best years of Beat Generation, sailing along the coasts of Campania among Amalfi, Positano and Capri. Parties onboard the Remington’s were famed as they hosted socialites and personalities of the time like Mastroianni, Fellini, Visconti. But her home port has always been Neaples and because of in Naples everyone has a nickname, people would call her O’ Remington (like in English THE Remington). When, in 1975, Lord Remington went back to London, the vessel truly named O’Remingotn, was sailed and used for charter.
In 1997, the stylist Roberta Ferretti bought the vessel and bring it back it to Italy where a thorough refit was carried out.. In 2004 changed his last owner and underwent a further refitting in 2007 .
